使用PROFIBUS時(shí), 必須在總線段兩端使用終端電阻來終止。線纜終端電阻包括一個(gè)電阻組合，它集成在 RS 485 中繼器，OLM(通道2)，總線端子，主動(dòng)RS485終端元件和一些總線連接器中。如果這些器件使用在網(wǎng)絡(luò)段的一端，則必須激活終端電阻。

線纜終端電阻使用浪涌阻抗防止線上的反射的方式終止總線電纜。同時(shí)，它保證了在兩條消息之間的間歇期，信號(hào)的中性狀態(tài)電平的設(shè)置。當(dāng)節(jié)點(diǎn)從 PROFIBUS 斷開時(shí)，終端電阻在該點(diǎn)失效。不是*連接到 PROFIBUS的節(jié)點(diǎn)不應(yīng)該連接到段的終端。

為了使節(jié)點(diǎn)能向/從PROFIBUS自由地連接和斷開，可采用主動(dòng) RS 485 終端元件 (訂貨號(hào) 6ES7972-0DA00-0AA0). 使用主動(dòng) RS 485 終端元件，終端電阻具有與其他IO節(jié)點(diǎn)分開的電源供電。由于它的操作與其他總線節(jié)點(diǎn)不相關(guān)，所以它能自由地連接和斷開，而不產(chǎn)生干擾。 

使用RS 485 中繼器和OLM (通道 2) 時(shí)，終端電阻由設(shè)備的電源供電。通過關(guān)斷數(shù)據(jù)終端或中繼器，或是拔除總線連接器，會(huì)造成的一個(gè)總線段的兩個(gè)終端電阻之一斷電，并引起總線錯(cuò)誤。

此外，在高EMC環(huán)境中，即使使用非常短的總線段(如從 OLM 到終端)，也*在兩端激活終端電阻。這種情況下，不應(yīng)該使用插入式830-1連接電纜。
